Louis Philippe Guinard was my great-grandfather. I think this is the same Louis Guinard who built the bridge over the Platte River in 1859, if anyone has more info on that I would like to hear it. My grandmother was Zelina Ellen Guinard born 1 Feb 1886 in LeBarge, Wyoming, she was one of the eight children mentioned in this thread. She married George Granville Faris. According to her, the four oldest of these eight children (she being the last) were born to an Indian woman named Naomi. Then Louis Philippe married Nancy Elizabeth Jackson and gave the four Indian babies to her to raise, and she bore him four more. However Naomi continued to visit her children, and visited my grandmother Zelina many times when she was grown and married with children of her own. Naomi spoke no English but apparently Zelina knew enough of the Indian language to talk to her when she visited. My mother (Betty Glenn Faris Hilliard, the youngest of Zelina's 10 children) could remember Naomi's visits, and sitting on her lap when she was about five years old.
Violet Zelina Faris, mentioned in Patrica Compton's message was Mother's oldest sister, and Mother still has many letters Violet wrote to her. I remember hearing her mention Roy Six and Harold Glasscock. Mother is still living and remembers a lot of the family history, she is 84.
