Happy (almost) Halloween! Thanks for the info. What I understand from my uncle Wed Dillon, Jesse's son, is that Charley Oregon was born Carlos Aragon. He thought that Charley changed his name to sound more American. Who knows!

As to Alice's middle name being A., I think that could have been a transcription error. The census taker made his "V's" with a loop that makes it look like an A.

I am still looking for any trace of Charley Oregon. After his wife died, he disappears. If any one has any clue, I am anxious to hear! I will check the Canadian records - that's a good hint and I will follow it up.

Thanks for keeping me in the loop!

Leslie, great-granddaughter of Charley Oregon
