Shirlene,
I live in Wheatland, Wy and I am also a Montgomery descendant. The little bit I found in a very short time of research is that M. F. was a member of the Wheatland Masonic Lodge, # 16. He and O.E. Tish were the first candidates for the degree. It received its charter Sept. 14, 1898. I couldn't find where he worked but it may have been the flour mill. Just a guess.
There is a wonderful site, Wyonewspapers.org. There are old newspapers from the towns of early Wyoming. There are some from Wheatland and in the few I looked at, there is some mention of M.F. as well as Agnes Spencer. She was a teacher at the Spencer school. Don't know where that was.In 1904 she was going to Douglas, Wy to teach school there. This is a great site to read about the lives of the early Wheatland people and businesses. I think you will find some interesting things about your people.
Now, my Montgomerys were in Indiana. I have quite a few Montgomerys in my papers and I will see if anything comes up your John.My Montgomerys came to Gibson Co, Indiana in 1804 from Virginia via Kentucky. I have been researching Montgomerys for over 30 years. Will get back to you if I find something to help you. Good luck.
