William Lafayette Wyrick-Minnie Wyrick
I am looking to prove the parentage of William L. Wyrick. I have not found a death certificate for him yet. I would also like to find the parentage and a death certificate for Parley Oaks. I believe the father of William Lafayette Wyrick is Lafayette Wyrick and Catherine. Does anyone have proof of this parentage and the parents of Lafayette and Catherine? I would appreciate any help.
The 1900 Union County, Tennessee census, district 16, sheet 6B, household #98 lists William L. Wyrick 34 (b. Oct 1866-TN-farmer) Parley 42 (b. June 1858-TN) Sarah C. 14, John M. 12 (b. 14 Feb. 1888) Minnie B. 10 (b. August 1890) Elizabeth L. 9, Martha M. 8, Bedie I. 7, and Bertie A. 4 (William and Parley may be the parents of Minnie Wyrick. She was born August of 1890. It appears that William L. Wyrick’s brother, Benjamin F. Wyrick, is living one household away)
William L. Wyrick was born on 8 October 1866 and died on 11 November 1950. Parley was born on 15 June 1858 and died on 17 January 1946. They both are buried at Blue Springs Cemetery in Union County. A death certificate (#6805) for Bedie Wyrick Ellison states that she was born on 12 December 1896 in Union County and died on 1 April 1946. She married McKinley Ellison and her parents are listed as Wm. L. Wyrick and Parlie Oaks. She is buried at the Davis Chapel Cemetery in Lafollette, Campbell County Tennessee. Parley’s maiden name appears to be Oaks. I have not found a marriage date for William and Parley, but appear to have married circa 1885 (We need to find Wm. L. Wyrick’s death certificate)
The 1920 Union County, Tennessee census, sheet 9A, household #152 lists William L. Wyrick 53, Parley 59, and Bertie 19.
The 1930 Union County, Tennessee census, sheet 4B, household #155 lists William Wyrick 63, Parley 73, and Bertie 30. They and their parents were born in Tennessee.
The 1940 Union County, Tennessee census, sheet 6B, family #90 lists W.L. Wyrick, 73, Parlie 71, and Bertie 33.
The 1880 Union County, Tennessee census, district 9, page 203D, household #67 shows Catherine Wyrick 40 (b. TN-DIVORCED) Tilitha 29, Robert O. 15, Wm. Lafayette 12, Polly 10, Daniel H. 6, and Benj. F. 3 (Possible family/parentage of William L. Wyrick who married Parley Oaks, parents of Minnie Wyrick. William, 50, and Isaac Oaks, 26, live close by)
A query at Ancestry.com asks the following. I am trying to help a friend and she asks....does anyone know who the Catherine Wyrick in the 1880 Union County, Tennessee census was the widow of? Her children were: Tiletha, Robert D.,Wm. Lafayette, Polly, Daniel and Benjamin F. A reply states the following: I have found that her parents are Francis Clark and Delitha Seabolt.....but I am unable to find a marriage record. I have found where she applied for a widow's pension from William Wyrick.
