Lewis Yachik was my Great Grandfather's brother. My Great Grandfather went by the surname of Yockstick while Lewis, prior the marriage to his wife Anella Date changed his name from Louis Yockstick to Lewis Yachik. Anyone know where,when and why? Lewis's parents were Adam Yockstick and JoHanna Fenske born Prussia in early 1800's. Was Yachik the true Prussian surname? Is that one of the reasons that Lewis changed it from Yockstick to Yachik?
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!
