One thing you can count on in tracing Yagers is that the spelling never is the same. It can be of any of the following: Jager, Yager, Jaeger, Yaeger and others. It was spelled phonetically in the old days. Another thing is that there are variations on names such as John/Jean. I had an uncle named John Joseph but he went by Jack...remember JFK? I also have a ggrandmother whose name is either Jane or Jean depending upon who wrote it down.
