This obituary is from a yellowed newspaper clipping saved by my grandmother over the years. Wm Yahne was her dad's uncle. Her dad was raised by his Yahne grandparents. Close in age, Henry Yahne was more like a brother to him than an uncle.
This obituary is of Mary Jane DAVIS Mell Yahne, second wife of William Henry Yahne. They lived in the Indian Territority, later Oklahoma.
"Sister Mary Yahne, wife of W. H. Yahne, died Dec. 27, 1911, in her home one and one-half miles south of Covewan Mounds. Sister Yahne was born Nov. 26, 1861, being 50 years, 10 months and 1 day of age when the death angel called and relieved her from this world of toil and care, and took her to the home which Jesus has gone to prepare.
About thirty years ago she was adopted into the Body of Christ, which is the church of the living God. She lived true to the noble profession to the day of her decease. For about twenty-five years of the later part of her life she has been identified with the Independent Holiness people. Her motto was to promote the happiness of others. In sickness she was unexcelled.
Owing to a fire some years ago, Bro. and Sister Yahne were hurriedly swept out of a home, leaving them in distressing circumstances which increased the heavy burden on Sister Yahne.
She lavished her love on her household. Tha latter done all possible in her sickness to spare her and repay the debt of love, but the arm of flesh was too short. The summons was "Come home," and none could hinder. Our loss is her eternal gain. She leaves husband, four step-children and six of her own, and a host of friends to mourn their loss. Funeral services conducted by the writer.
