Yancy/Yancey...... PROMINENT FAMILY IN VIRGINIA

I'm looking for my gr great grandfather's mother, who was a Yancy/Yancey from the prominent Yancy family of Virginia. My gr great grandfather's name is John E. Pettus. The story we've heard is that John E. Pettus' mother was a member of the prominent, and wealthy, Yancy/Yancey family in Virginia, and her parents disowned her due to her love for a man..... a Mr. Pettus (first name unknown). I have searched and searched online, without success. The only thing I have come up with is a "Salina Yancy" who married a Charles Pettus, in Virginia..... What I'm asking all of you, is for any info that you may have of a missing Yancy/Yancey girl, sister, daughter, etc... in your line that this may be. John E. Pettus died in 1912 (between the age of 20 -30).... I figure he was born in the 1880's, so his mother most likely was born in the 1860's or early 1870's.

Thank you in advance for any information or guidance you may provide me.

Holly
