Rosendo Yanez
My grandfather Rosendo was born in 1890 in Cusihuiriachic, Chihuahua, Mexico. This pueblo is located approximately 60 miles S.W. of Chihuahua. His father and mother were Onofre Yanez and Gonzala Madrid de Rubio.(For the record, Onofre's parents were Jose Yanez and Dolores Rivas.Gonzala's parents were Isidoro Madrid and Serafina Rubio.)Rosendo had three siblings, Roberto, David and Alfredo. As an adult Roberto lived and worked for the railroad in Southern California.I know nothing of the other two siblings.Rosendo owned and operated a grocery store in Chihuahua.Mercedes de la Torre was born in 1892 in Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, Mexico. She was the daughter of Juan de la Torre and Amalia Tallabas.Rosendo and Mercedes married in 1910 and shortly thereafter migrated to the United States.Their port of entry was Juarez, Mexico. They crossed via the El Paso Electric Railway. They resided in El Paso, TX for some time.He worked as a hardware clerk for what was then Zork Hardware Co.Together they had four children, Amelia, Carlos(my father), David, and Rosendo. After the children were raised he and Mercedes moved to Anthony, NM where he owned and operated Yanez Hardware Co.I would appreciate hearing from anyone who can identify with any part of this story. My best regards, Carlos
