Yankeys in Mississippi

I'm looking for the family of my husband's gg-grandmother. According to info I was given by his aunt, her name was Amanda Yankee b.1837 d. 1893. She married a man 19 years her senior named James Oliver Alexander Martin.
In the 1850 census of Yazoo Co., MS there is only one Yankey family as follows;
William A. Yankey, 47, m, planter, Virginia
Edney C. Yankey, 39, f , Mississippi
John Oldham,17, m,laborer, Mississippi
Mary E. Yankey, 13,f, Mississippi
Sarah A. Oldham, 13, f, "
James Oldham, 10, m, "
Minerva Oldham 8, f, "
Moses Oldham, 6, m, "
Mary J. Yankey, 2, f, "
Jonathan Yankey, 1, m "

Mary E. Yankey is the right age but I have the name Amanda. Also was it common to have two children with the same name, i.e. Mary? Could Amanda be a nickname of some sort? Also given the ages of the Oldham children, I wonder if both William and Edney had children from previous marriages?
Any help with this would be appreciated!
