Herbert Yankee, 82, of Church Hill, Hawkins Co TN, passed
away following an extended illness on Tuesday, November
24, 2009, at Wellmont Hospice house in Bristol.

Mr. Yankee has lived in Hawkins County for most of his
life, and attended Grassy Creek Freewill Baptist Church.
He loved farming and enjoyed going to Saturday morning
Menís prayer. He proudly served his country in the United
States Army, and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Pearl
Yankee.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Thelma Yankee;
son, Roger Yankee of Sullivan Co; daughter, Janice 'Jan'
Salyer of Knoxville, TN; grandson, Chad Salyer; two great
grandchildren, Cassidy Salyer and Zackary Lamb.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to
Imogene Eickenberry, and Louis and Orgie Sherfey.

Calling hours are from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, November
27, 2009, At Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the
residence.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m., Friday, in
the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dwayne Gilliam, Rev.
Robert Cooper, and Rev. Teddy Webb officiating. Pallbearers
will be family and friends. Honorary bearers will be Mr.
Yankeeís fellow members of the Saturday Morning Menís
Prayer.

Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m., Saturday,
November 28, 2009, at Yankee cemetery with military honors
conducted by the Hawkins county Color Guard and the
Tennessee National Guard.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wellmont
Hospice house of Bristol.
