I have an article from REAL WEST Annual magazine Spring Edition #8, 1968 about The Day They Hanged Marshall Yarbery, by Andy Gregg. The article is 3 1/2 pages long.
Milton Yarbery was born of poor but honest parents in Arkansas but ran off to Texas as a young man. He was an ex-marshall of Albuquerque, cowboy, gambler, brothel-keeper, bandit, uneducated. He was a fairly successful murderer and always got out of town fast. While awaiting hanging at the jail, a friend visitor Elwood Malden bought Milton some new clothes to wear to glory. Milton told Maden some secrets, Maden told none of these secrets except that Miltons name was not really Yarbery and that he asked that letters be written to his relatives in Arkansas. He was hanged February 9, 1883.
I guess the question is was he really a Yarbery or he did he have another name so not to embarress his parents?
