Governor Sir George Yeardley of Virginia
I have recently learned that I am a descendant of Jerome Dumas (born ca. 1681 St. Fort, Saintonge, France; came to Virginia August 12, 1700 aboard the _Mary and Ann_ with other Huguenot settlers; d. January 1734 Fire Creek, Goochland County, Virginia).Jerome married Unity Smith in 1702.The genealogy on the Dumas home page includes a brief Yeardley genealogy which makes Unity Smith a great-great-granddaughter of Gov. Sir George Yeardley (Yardley) and Lady Temperance Flowerdew, all through female lines descending from their daughter Elizabeth Yeardley.Sir George was born in England between 1577 and 1580, immigrated to Virginia in 1609, married Lady Temperance in 1618, and died in Virginia in 1627.
The Dumas page states that parts of the genealogy connecting Unity Smith with Sir George and Lady Temperance are uncertain and unverified.Does anyone have information on Sir George and Lady Temperance and their descendants leading to Unity Smith?
