Thanks for the tip, I was unaware of the article in "The Westways Magazine."

I agree that Arabella was born in Richmond, VA, because her parents were in the Richmond censuses from 1840-60. In the 1860 and 1870 censuses, Arabella's birthplace says Virginia, then in the 1880 and 1900 censuses, her birthplace says Alabama. I can only guess that she started giving her birthplace as Alabama to distance herself from her "past" in Richmond.
