BESSIE ELLEN YARRINGTON PITTS--DAUG. VIRGINIA
Posted by: Deanna Hirz (ID *****3412) Date: September 17, 2005 at 18:44:36

Seeking information on a daughter of Charles M. Yarrington who is from Ohio. He was married to a Addie/Addy. One resource says Addie M. Ray. She is from Illinois.

First find the family in McLean County, Illinois where daughter BESSIE ELLEN YARRINGTON was born--1889.

Next the family is in Vermillion County, Illinois with several children: Lester; Bessie; Carrol; Victor and Warren.

Next the family is in Centralia, Boone, Missouri. There are children Lester; Carl?, Wayne and Warren, with daughter BESSIE E. PITTS AND GRANDDAUGHTER VIRGINIA PITTS. Virginia is one month old.

The family is found in the same area for the next 20 years. Some of the names found on the censuses are:
Bessie and Virginia are still living with Charles and Addie the parents. Bessie has not remarried. On the 1930 census there is the parents and then a V. Wayne (this must be Victor); with wife Lena? and two sons of V.Wayne and Lena(?) and they are Victor W. and Charles M.

Bessie has still not married but states that she is a widow. Virginia Pitts is 20 years old.

I am trying to prove that this Bessie Ellen Yarrington was the wife of my great Uncle--Benjamin Ross Pitts. He had a daughter by the name of Virginia.

On the 1910 census of Springfield, Sangamon, Illinois, Benjamin Pitts is 21 and states he had been married 1 year but no wife listed with him.

On the 1910 census of Centralia, Boone, Missouri, Bessie E. Pitts age 21 states that she is married and has been 1 year. But she has no husband with her. She is living with her parents. Virginia is one month old--born in Missouri

On the 1920 census of Peoria, Peoria, Illinois Benjamin (Bengerman on census index) is 32 and states he is married and yet no wife listed and he is living with his sister and brother in law.

On the 1920 census of Centralia, Boone, Missouri Bessie Pitts states that she is married and is yet is living with her parents. No husband listed. Daughter Virginia is 9 years old--born in Missouri

On the 1930 census of Peoria, Peoria, Illinois Benjamin Pitts is married. He is 41 years old He states that he was married the first time at age 20. His wife is Chloe (Choloe on census)--age 40 and she states she was married
the first time at age 31. So that told me that Benjamin had been married before.

On the 1930 census of Centralia, Boone, Missouri, Bessie E. Pitts is still living with her parents. She is 40 years old and states that she is a widow. Her daughter Virginia is 20 years old and single.

On some hospital records of Benjamin Pitts it gives his only child's name and that is Virginia. She is Virginia HUDSON and living in Kansas City, Missouri.

I looked Virgina Hudson up on the Social Security death index and I find one who was born 12 Mar 1910 and died Jan 1984 in Kansas City, Missouri.

This woman Virginia Hudson matches up with the Virgina Pitts who is one month old on the 1910 census--the enumeration date being April 1910. So it would make her born in March--given her age of one month.

I feel in my heart that I have the right people, but I need proof.

I would appreciate anyone related to the Yarrington's of McLean County, Illinois; Vermillion County, Illinois; and Boone County, Missouri to please help me with this.

Perhaps you are related to one of Bessie's brothers. Just any help would be wonderful. I know I am on the right track. I just need documentation.

Thank you,
Deanna
