Delmar "Skip" E. Yarrington, 91, Defiance, died at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, in his residence.
He was born Oct. 11, 1915, in Defiance County, the son of Harley and Annie (Strine) Yarrington. In 1935, he married Judith Dils, who died in 1989. In 1994, he married Arlene Iler, who survives. The World War II U.S. Navy veteran was a millwright/welder at General Motors for 25 years, retiring in 1973. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Chek Polka Club, a life member of VFW Post 3360 and a past president and chairman of UAW Local 211.
Also surviving are three stepdaughters, Mrs. Jeff (Chris) Weaner of Traverse City, Mich., Bonnie Iler of Willington, N.C., and Mrs. Patrick (Nancy) Okuley, Toledo; two stepsons, Ken and Dave Iler of Defiance; a sister, Marjorie Penrod, Portland, Ind.; and eight stepgrandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were a stepson, Gregory Iler; a brother, Paul; and three sisters, Elnora McQueary, Iona Watson and Goldie Crosser.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Tim Kummerer officiating. Burial will be in Ayersville Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Friday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to Hospice the Caring Way of Defiance or a charity of the donor's choice.
