I'm curious about your Yaw's in Grove, Jasper, IL. I've tracked a man named Isaac Yaw, Jr., b. 1847 in Indiana, who lived in Decatur Co, IN (1850 census) and moved to Grove, Jasper, IL by the 1880 census. He has several children in the 1880 census, including one named Amos (I've seen this name mentioned in some of these postings). In the 1880 census for Jasper Co, IL, it appears that some younger brothers (born after 1850 census) are also in close proximity - George Yaw and Taylor Yaw. George is living in the household of his mother - listed as Eliza Tompkins in this census(b. IN)(she would have remarried after 1857). All of these Yaw listings are on the same census page.
Isaac, Taylor and George are sons of Isaac Yaw, Sr., b.abt. 1817/1818 in PA. Other children of Isaac (Sr.) and Eliza (?)Yaw were Nancy, Harrison, Elias, Louisiana, and Albert (these children were listed in the 1850 census).
My interest in Isaac Yaw is this: Before moving to Decatur Co., IN, he lived in Franklin Co., IN (per 1840 census). He was in his early 20's at this time. I have a multi g-grandmother named Margaret Yaw Smart Cummins who was living in Franklin Co., IN at the same time, b. abt. 1807 in PA (same birthplace as Isaac). I assume they're siblings. I can't find any trace of other Yaw's in the area. I haven't been able to trace the ancestry back into PA.
Given how few Yaw's are out there and the unlikely chance that multiple unrelated Yaw families would end up in the same township, would it be true that your family is associated with Isaac Yaw?
I've been trying to make a link to the Yaw/Yeaw website that people mention on this board, but the link isn't active.
Any input would be appreciated!!!
