I have many Cyrus Gates. The one I mentioned before is Cyrus (8) Gates, second son of Cyrus 7 (Nehemaih 6-5, Stephen 4-3-2-1). This Cyrus 8 was born at Brandon, Knox Co., Ohio Nov. 24, 1822 died May 19, 1872/73. I have both years. Came from Ohio to Warren Co. Iowa Dec. 1855. Buried Lynn Grove Cemetary. I have Cyrus 7 born at Ruthland, VT Sept. 12,1792 moved to Zanesville, Ohio in 1814. Also have Cyrus 6 (brother to above Nehemaih 6) born at Preston, Conn 1756. Cyrus 6 was a revolutionary soldier of Castleton, Ruthland Co., VT.

Are you related to the Gates?
My lineage comes from Cyrus 7 then his 1st son, Lyman W. then to Lyman's 2nd daughter, Orlinda Elvira Gates. She married William Henry Taylor. They had son, Charles William Taylor who married Della Blanche Rose. They had son Ernest Corwin Taylor who married Agatha Ovanda Jones. They had Ernest Bernarr Taylor who married Margaret Daisy Nauslar who had Bernadine Ann Taylor (ME).
***Note: Orlinda Elvira Gates brother, Omer C. Gates had a daughter Lena Anna Gates who married Orlinda's daughter-in-laws brother, Corwin Herbert Rose.
