Back to the Earwood-Yearwood debate. They are most certainly from the same line - at least in my family. My great-grandfather was William Escar EARWOOD, but his father (my gr-gr-grandfather) was Starling Northcutt YEARWOOD. It seems he dropped the "Y" sometime after the Civil War. So at least from our family these are NOT from separate lines. Thoughts???
