My mother's family roots are in the West Indies. Her mother was born in St. Kitts. Her grandfather and great grandmother were born in Barbados. I somehow have a connection to the Ottley's but don't know the exact connection, as yet. This is what I know.
My gr.gr. grandfather, James Henry Donnelly b. 1814 in Ireland came to West Indies about 1830 with 5 brothers. He married Amelia Yearwood who was born in Barbados in Nov 1823. They had 10 children, most of them born in Barbados. My gr. grandfather, Edmund Lawrence Donnelly, b. 1852 married Henrietta Field who was born in Ireland. They lived in Demerara, Br. Guiana when my grandfather, Henry Edmund Field Donnelly was born in 1886. My gr. grandfather, John Thom was born in Scotland circa 1845 and came to St. Kitts in ????, married Almira Clarke Beard (this is the tie to the Ottley's). Their daughter, my grandmother, Lillian Alice Thom was born in St. Kitts in 1878. She came to the US in the 1890s with the Beard and Clukies famlies, settling in New York. I don't know if she knew my grandfather prior to her immigrating to the US but they were married in 1910 in New York where my mother, Florette Almeria Donnelly was born. Early in their marriage they lived in Canada.
Is there a connection in there somewhere?
