Nick, that's just one part of the story. There are countless black barbadians who took on the Yearwood name because their were fathered by European Yearwoods. Most of today's Barbadians are of African and European Ancentry. Some white estate owners were bold enough to allow the children, that they had outside of their intact white families, to use their names. Understand that slavery in Barbados was as brutal as anywhere in the world - the women were'nt spared.
