Dorothy Jane "Cooter" Yearwood Wood My mother. b. December 21, 1921. Grew up in Mercedes, TX. Married September 9?, 1939? to Billy Rich Wood from Mission and Brownsville, TX. (mother Lula Rich - east Texas, m. father William Wood. Billy's mama Lula, a school teacher from east Texas, died giving birth to Billy in Brownsville during the time that Pancho Villa was raiding around the area. William's brother or sister (and spouse) wanted to adopt Billy. They owned a department store in Brownsville, TX. William refused. Therefore, Billy was raised by William's relatives (sisters?) Nell Dawson and Nina "Mumsey" in Mission. Billy was excellent swimmer and diver.) Dorothy and Billy - two children:
