Robert B. Yielding

Robert Bruce Yielding, age 77, of Florence, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at ECM Hospital after an extended illness.

He was a native of Franklin County, Ala., and had lived in Florence for the past 39 years.

He was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church of Florence, the American Legion Post No. 11, the Korean War Veterans Association and the Disabled American Veterans.

Mr. Yielding was retired from TVA.

Mr. Yielding proudly served his country during two wars. In World War II, he was a Merchant Marine, and he was in the United States Army 252nd Transportation Truck Company in the Korean War.

The visitation will be Thursday evening from 6-9 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be Friday at 3 p.m. from First Free Will Baptist Church of Florence, with burial to follow in Greenview Memorial Park.

Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Dr. Danny Dwyer, the Rev. Gerald Montgomery and the Rev. Frank Owens. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Friday. Full military honors will be accorded at the graveside.

His parents, Oscar and Annie Yielding, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ole Mae Holland Yielding; son, Charlie David Yielding and wife, Tammy, of Killen, Linda Gail Tidwell and husband, Ray, of Rogersville and Marla Sue Yielding of Sheffield; brothers, William Donald Yielding of Rockford, Ill.; grandchildren, Misty Dindlebeck and husband, Martin, of Rogersville, Matthew Tidwell of Rogersville and Wesley Yielding of Killen.

Pallbearers will be his nephews.

Greenview Funeral Home of Florence is directing.
