Do any of you Yielding Researchers have any info on Chesley CANANT? There was a C. CANANT in the 1840 Blount Co. census on the same page (but not next to) T.L.M. Yielding. If this was CHESLEY CONANT (and I am inclined to think so) he went to Miss. where his last three children (by third wife) were born and where he died (but we don't know where in Miss.) Apparently his second wife (Elizabeth Cox) died about 1842 and his third wife was also an Elizabeth _______(?) and they had three children. This Elizabeth had remarried by 1850 aqnd is buried next to her son William CANANT (my great-grandfather.) William married Amanda Missouri YIELDING c/o Richard Yielding and Mariah Wild so CHESLEY CANANT may have had a connection with the YIELDINGS. (Info on children of Chesley Canant by 1st and 2nd marriage came from Frederick CONANT's book.)
