Barbara,
I realize without a given name its almost impossible to make a connection. I read the following in the 100 years ago column in the (9/2/04) issue of Lawrence (KS.)Journal World (daily newspaper).
"There are indications that a skeleton found near the river the other day was that of a local business man named YOHE who disappeared here in the early 1880s. He supposedly went to Kansas City to make some purchases, had money for that and was never heard from again. Foul play is suspected..."
Lawrence is really not very far from Spring Hill, KS. The archives of the Lawrence, KS. newspapers could possibily supply a given name for this individual? I have no connection with the surname YOHE.
