I am looking for the family of Mary Ann Yoey, born 1814 in Plymouth, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Peter Yohe, born about 1790 in Pennsylvania. I found Peter Yohe in Plymouth Township, Luzerne County, PA in the 1830 census. His household has one male child under 5, one adult male between 30 and 39, one female child between 5 and 9, and one female adult between 30 and 39. In the 1850 Census, he is 60 years old, residing in the home of his daughter and son –in- law, Peter Andrus (Peter Andreas) in Hollenback Township, Luzerne County, PA. I cannot find Peter Yohe in other census’.
Mary Ann Yoey is listed as the mother of Abraham Andres (Andreas) in his biographical sketch in “A History of Luzerne County,” Bradsby, ed. 1893, which can be found on the Luzerne County Genweb site.
In the baptismal records of two of her children, she is listed as Mary Ann, nee Hock. Perhaps Andreas was her second marriage?
I gather from perusing the message boards the family name was originally Joh. I would be Peter Andreas’ 2nd great grand niece.
