Bob, Thanks for your input. The John Yorks who married Sarah Maria Sheets is my gg grandfather, and I believe his father was the John who married Rachael Havender. John Jr. was a carpenter who lived near Stanton,NJ. He and his wife Sarah had seven children: Ruth A., John, Mary E.(my great grandmother),Margaret, Henry W., Amanda, ans Asa. These are listed in the 1860 Census under Readington Twp. The Dutch reform church wedding that you list is interesting because these Yorks were apparently Dutch. There are a number of Dutch spellings of the name such as Jorkse, Yurcks, Jerkse,Yerkes, etc. but the English pronunciation came out Yorks. The "Yorks" probably did come from Holland through New York when it was New Amsterdam.I believe but have not proven that John("Jan") Sr. was born 13 Aug. 1772 to William A. Yorks( b. 1749 in Readingtonand d. 22 Oct. 1831) and Elizabeth Allegar(b. 1754 and died 17 Sept. 1825).I hope this information is helpful to you. Paul
