By the way, this may not mean anything, but I'm pretty sure that some Youmans in the thumb area moved from Ionia County. Not my direct ancestors, since mine were from NY and these were from CT, however possibly related. Mine followed the CT Youmans into Ionia by about 10 years, moving like most of the Ionia settlers from towns in upstate NY. The CT folks just passed through NY, and moved with a bunch of New Yorkers in the first wave to Ionia. The CT Youmans family was headed by an Erastus, who I believe had descendants that moved to the thumb area.

I only say that we're possibly related to the CT family because of the coincidence of an early move to Ionia.
