Searched for years for record of my GGFather Richard William Yeomans without success. In 1870 Missouri census my Gfather said his father was born in Canada, in the same census my GUncle said his father was born in Wisconsin. Finally located record of Richard in Ontario Township, Wisconsin, which may have been the cause of the mixup. Richard was born 1 May 1837, enlisted in Civil War in 1861 in Wisconsin, listed as deserter later that same year, but his widow was able to draw his Civil War veterans pension after his death.
This probably does not affect you in any way, but it may be a clue to follow up on. (Note: Civil War Record in name Richard William Youmans)

Jerry Yeomans
