Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will

Thank you for your response, I just returned from a two week vacation last night so have just received your message. The information I have is that Daniel Yeamans/Youmans was born in 1739 in New York and his father, John, purchased land in Orange Co., now Rockland Co. NY. in 1740, this came from a genealogy written by my wifes Gr.Gr.Grandfather,Charles Youmans,Daniel was his grandfather, this was as far back as he knew of his family. I have found evidence on the internet that John was born 1700/10 and that his father was William son of Christopher Yeamans of Hempstead and later Rye, NY. One source did connect the family to Sir John Yeamans but most family geneologists have discredited that. Do you or your source know if the John Yeamans/Youmans you mentioned ever settled in Orange/Rockland Co.,NY?
