Right now we have two wive for Yankee John, Magdalena and Nancy Hartzell. Sorting out who the children belong to is another story. We don't know whenMagdalena died and when he married Nancy.
Here are a few facts we do KNOW >
According to Otto Younkin's books (he was the president of the Younkin Family Association in the '30s and '40s)— Yankee Johnwas married to Nancy Hartzell, they do not mention the name Magdelena (I can't off the top of my head recall where the marriage to Magdelena was sourced). Otto Younkin's notebooks say: he is buried at Crossroads Cemetery (which is between Harnedsville and Ursina on Hogback Ridge)
1860 census he resided with daughter, Susan Schrock (wife of Andrew)
Alexander died February 12, 1905 at Connellsville St., Uniontown, Pa. Birthdate Sept 8, 1822 or 1824. Nancy Younkin Sanner died March 29, 1880 in Wharton Twp., near Elliotsville, Pa. age 51 years. Both are buried in small cemetery known as Van Sickle. along rt 381 near Elliotsville, Pa., many unmarked graves in this cemetery
1850 census — Milford Twp., SomersetCounty, Pa. Alexander Sanner 25 (see Sanner Church records, page. 109, No. 246) Nancy 21 John 1; (see Sanner Church records, page. 120, No. 440); William 1/12
1870 Census: Wharton Twp., Fayette Co., Pa. Alexander Sanner 48 Nancy 38 John 21; Catherine 17, Ellen 16, Charles 13, Sarah 11, Alexander 4. ( a death for an Alexander of Wharton Twp. was listed in the newspaper, no data on the individual, died Feb. 4, 1899)
1880 Census, Wharton Twp., Fayette Co., Pa. Alexander Sanner 56 Sarah 23; Marcellus 18; Alexander 12; Grant 10; Kate ROMESBURG 27 (this would be the daughter, Catherine above); Blanche ROMESBURG 5; Della ROMESBURG 3; Nancy 1.
1900 Soundex, Fayette County, Connellsville St., Uniontown, Pa. Alexander Sanner birth date Sept 1822 living with Kate Rowen birth date May 1846, and Mary Rowen (daug.) b. Feb 1875
List of 1883 Pensioners: Fayette County, Vol. III, No. 1— Civil War: Alexander Sanner of Farmington, P.O. (Wharton Twp.) — amputated right arm. Monthly pension-$24. Date of original allowance Nov. 1876.
His obit listed these daughters: Mrs. Samuel Raymond (dec.), Mrs. Jacob Johnson of Wharton twp.; Mrs. C. W. McCann of Uniontown.
Just some food for thought
