Zabel Family Genealogy Forum

Some twenty years ago, I was acquainted with one James A. Zabel, a Ph.D. in the Arts and Sciences' at a Liberal Arts college in Southwest Missouri. Jim's wife, Janet, was , as I recall, a K-12 educator, and sons' were Tom and Derek (though I could be incorrect on the boys' names). Jim, if I recall correctly, once explained that his family hailed from Nebraska; his father, at one point, was an academician at Creighton College. Was Janet's maiden name, "Matsky"? Forgive my spotty memory: it seems that Jan's forebears' immigrated to the U.S. from somewhere within eastern Germany (near Torgau, Dresden, or perhaps a location nearer the immediate Polish-German border). Again, as I recall, Jim stated that he had family stretching across MN, SD, IL, IA, and NE. Very nice people; Jim was an inspirational educator. Hope this helps someone.
