I am starting to research my wife's family tree - the Lackey family. In some old papers we inherited was an original discharge from 28 Wisconsin Volunteer Regiment for one Christian Zabel. The Lackey family at that time lived in Minnesota and Wisconsin, finally emigarting to Canada.
I wonder if there is any connection?
P.S. I notice that the name Lackey is spelt differently on different documents.
