Brad: I don't know if this will help any, but my Great-grandmother, born around 1885, was Mary Zaharas/Zaharias/or possibly Zacharias. She always claimed to be Romanian. She married a Hungarian named George Hricz. My grandmother was born in 1904 in a "Szutmar," Hungary. The closest I can come to the town name is Satu Mare which is in northern Romania, in Transylvania. In 1904, it would have been part of Hungary. If anyone else knows more, I'd love to hear.
