The Zacher Name

Hi, I posted the other day about the Zacher family and the rarity of seeing it in any genealogical research. Maybe we could discuss this. I understand (but don't know) that it is a "common" name in Germany? My father researched the meaning and this is what he found. If I'm wrong please correct me.

Zacher: means memorial like a tombstone, it is commonly a Jewish name but also common in Germany (our background is Lutheran). In the old testament of the Bible it is one of the names listed (spelling is sometimes different) in one of the many begats in the book of Numbers. (I could look up the specific reference if any one is interested). So what do you all know about the name? Is it common to only one part of Germany? Our family came from Stuttgart, thats in the state of Baden-Wurttemberg. We have been asked several times if we are Syrian, perhaps it is common name in Syria too. So this is what I know--what do you know?
