Hi fellow Zacher researchers! This web site is crude - I made it in 1997 and have not had time to update it.

Thanks to ROOTSWEB for continuing to host free web pages for so long!!!!!!!

BEFORE you email me and ask if we're related (I'm afraid I won't know) PLEASE check out ALL the links on this site and see if YOU can tell if we're related.

My Zacher ancestor was John (Johann) Zacher, born abt 1830 in "Prussia" (Possibly, "Sax, W." - shows up on a census), Apparently his parents were - Casper and Fredrica, Apparently they came from Prussia with a sister, Mary, later married Phillips. The six sons of John are under the link entitled, documented. The OBIT tells a little bit about where they live.

The first US account is in Buffalo, NY, about 1850 then moved to NY City. This about the time of the Civil War. Apparently John and Catherine lived in NYC and then moved to Illinois, Peru (name of town) in La Salle County. Catherine and John are buried there. John died in 1872. He fought in the Civil War (see documentation on web site for battles!)

Catherine died about 1906 in Peru, IL. Here is something from the obit - William of Racine, Wisc., John Casper, of Oklahoma, and George Victor, Charles, Edward and Gilbert of this city.

In particular, if you are related to William or John Casper, PLEASE WRITE ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you can link up to any of the sons of J. Zacher, then email me, azacher@charter.net

Thanks, Allan Zacher
