I am researching a soldier who enlisted in the 26th Arkansas Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. He is:
G. W. B. Zachary Co. K Pvt/Pvt
Enlisted 18 Jun 1862 at Pine Bluff, Jefferson County, Arkansas. Deserted 29 Jul but returned
23 Aug 1862. Present through Jun 1863. Listed as Prisoner-of-war 15 Aug 1863. Age listed
as 28 on 1860 Jefferson County Census. Born in Tennessee.
I have no genealogical connection to this man but am writing a book on his regiment. Any help in learning his dates/places of birth, death, and burial would be greatly appreciated.
