I am also trying to trace my family origins, though I am not quite sure that my information will be of use to you. The earliest trace I find is that of my great grandfather, Samuel (named Selly) Zachmann, born in the German city of Offenbach on
28 December 1849. My grandfather, Emil Zachmann left Germany around 1932 to the United States and lived for a while in New Jersey.
