So good to hear back from you. James died on May 20, 1871, in Rockdale County, Georgia. He died without a will, so his son Charles Thornton Zachry filed for letters of administration for the estate, which I have copies of. Olive's death date, however, I haven't been able to verify. Several people on the web have it listed as 1876. Bob Phillips has checked to see if there were letters of administration or will filed for her, but nothing came up. He has also checked cemetery listings, but again, nothing. He is now trying to find where her parents are; her father, William Thornton Morton, is listed as witness to a number of documents, along with Thomas Duke (father of Lucy Duke Morton, William's wife & Olive's mother) and appears in some of the documents of administration with Precey Zachry on the death of Daniel Hay Zachry. James Benson Zachry was the administer of the estate since Daniel too died without a will in Putnam County.
Thanks to Bob, a wonderful lady in Henry County, Diane Chumbley, and some wonderful people in the various county courthouses, I have documentation for most of the requirements for the DAR application. As I have been sorting it all, I've tried to list it at zachrys.org so that others in the family can find the information if they need it. Unfortuneately, John Zachry's folder is empty in Putnam County. At least 20+ people have joined DAR through John Zachry and seven of them through Daniel Hay Zachry, so there are copies of one of the documents. If I can find a readable copy, I will get a digital picture of it and make sure the courthouse has a copy. I sent the clerk a copy of what I had, but it was about the third copy from the original and was illegible for the most part.
You are welcome to copies of anything I have so far, or I can I can give you the source if you have need of first-hand copies. Just let me know.
