richard
michael and prudence white anderson are my gg-grandparents.
i have looked back at all of the information i have and i don't find a zane any place but plato (platoff)'s middle name.
the one idea of using a prominent name is probably good. i have a thomas jefferson flowers and a george washington sayre in other branches.
another possibility--my paternal grandfather's middle name orginally came from a great aunt's husband's mother's maiden name!!!!! took me a long time to find that.
so we will probably never know where the zane came from.
