Qouted from my GGF a Sroufe
"The Sroufe family started on a Dutch Land Grant in New York State in 1652. John Jacob Sroufe being the recipient from the Dutch government of this land. Later two Sroufe brothers left New York State in the company with Isaac Zane and others and founded the towns of Zanesville, Ohio, the family spreading out in several small towns, Xenia, Yellow Springs, and Siota. One of these brothers continued on in Ohio marrying a French and Indian girl. The other brother crossed the Ohio river and settled in Harding Kentucky."
