Tom, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but......your Isaac Zane who married Mary Stephenson in Kentucky and migrated to Logan Co., Ohio and then on to Cass Co., Michigan is one family that we have been agonizing over for at least 20 years! I have suspicions where he fits in, but absolutely nothing to prove anything. Maybe if we put our heads together we can figure out at least a little more. INcidentally, if you are ever in Sequoia National Park in California, be sure to hike to "Tharp's Log". He was of this Zane line and was one of the first discoverers of the giant sequoia trees. He ran sheep or cattle, and would move them up into the higher country in the summer. He built himself a "cabin" in a burned out fallen wequoia, now called "Tharp's Log". I have been in it. Not fancy by any means but one could live in it during the summer and into the fall if one doesn't mind "roughing it".
