Zarate in Spain

I do not understand why there are not reports of Zarate in Spain (from where they are supposed to be). Any people from Navarra? from the Vascongadas provinces? from Asturias or Cantabria? or even from Castilla?
We want to know where the whole think began. I know that there was a soaniard conquistador that settled in Northern Tolima (Central Colombia), from where my fatherīs family is (XVI century)and he was called Don Lorenzo Zarate. Thatīs all.
Please contact us. Thank you.
