Thanks for your follow-up. My John Zaugg is my gg-grandfather. He emigrated from Switzerland about 1868. I have found him and Rebecca on the census records from 1880 forward. Can't find him in 1870, which is also around the time he married Rebecca. I tried looking for him in Wayne county with Jacob's family and I couldn't find him. My John settled in Walnut Creek, Holmes County, Ohio and died sometime after 1920. They had at least 6 children that I have found, although my mom tells me that they had at least 12 and the 1910 census shows that they had 12 children and 9 were living at the time.

Do you know where John, son of Jacob was living in 1870? Could my John be your John, son of Jacob?
