Catherine JOYCE at one time lived in Callen, Co Kilkenny, Ireland. She was married to Matthew COONEY. I believe she was probably boon between 1800-1820. Family ledgend is she came to America with 11 of her children after her husband died. It is said she lived in New York. It is said that she married a CLARE (CLAIR, ST CLARE, ST CLAIR)
It is said her baby, John Charles COONEY, was left as a baby in Ireland with an uncle and aunt, as mother was concerned with him surviving the voyage. (He was born in 1841) It is said one of her daughters married a ZEIGLER or ZIMMERMAN and lived in St. Louis by the 1870's. It is said all of her children were named Bible names with the sons names coming from the Apostles.

Please email me at if you have any clues to this family!
