I'm back from the Archives just bursting with info on Henry Zercher. Here it is:
Zercher, Henry Albert, 2nd Lt [never mustered] Co F & E; mustered Feb 28, 1862, as a volunteer; discharged June 29, 1865; born Dec 17, 1843, in Millersville, Pennsylvania; died Sept 8, 1926; worked as a wheelwright, carpenter, and train conductor for the Pennsylvania Railroad; 5' 9", brown hair, blue eyes; claimed he developed eye problems due to a case of the measles contracted at Lutherville, Maryland; married Marcella Duck (b. 01/09/46) April 12, 1866; children: William I. (b. 03/28/67), Benjamin F. (b. 05/08/69), Minnie May (b. 05/15/71), Percy (b. 02/12/73), Walter (b. 09/30/75), Edward F. (b. 08/06/77), Edith V. (12/01/79), Anna C. (b. 04/12/81), and Henry B. (b. 12/11/83); died in Columbia, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania; lived at 113 S. 5th St.; quit working as a conductor for the Pennsylvania Railroad due to his weak eyes and inability to discern colors; reported numerous birth years from 1841 - 1844 but always December 17 and always in Millersville
