In Reply to: Re: JACOB ZIKE - NIEDERDUNZEBACH by Rita Zeuch of 285

Rita and others -- I believe my Jacob Zeuch was the Hessian soldier born in Niederdunzebach who came to this country in 1776 at the age of about 17 ... meaning he was born about 1758-59. He was in the Erbprinz Regiment of Hesse-Kassel according to the German State Archives published in 1976.

He married Katherine Avey about 1790 (location unknown) and they had 9 children: 6 sons + 3 daughters, as follows:
Jacob born 1786 and died before 1805;
Susannah born 1788;
John born 1789 ... an ancestor of Joan Meriwether on this forum;
David born 1791;
William Allen born 1800;
Joseph born 1800 (probably twin to William) ... my ancestor;
Sarah born 1802;
Esther born 1804; and
Jacob born 22 March 1805 ... ancestor of Mary Lou Olsen on this forum.

I agree with Bob King that Jacob the Hessian soldier's mother was probably not 66 years old when he was born, meaning there is perhaps a generation missing ... or there is an error in some dates. Something to think about. And I think I can speak for all of us here, and thank you again for all the information that you've supplied.

I hope that Mary Lou Olsen and Joan Meriwether will also see this message. .............. Ron
