September 16, 2007

Myrtle Starnes Zike 94, Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2007. Myrtle was born September 3, 1913 in Arkansas to the late Deltus and Maggie Magdalene Powell. She was a very hard worker, but her main goal in life was raising her 11 children. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 18, 2007 in Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center - Decatur Township. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 17, 2007 and before 10 a.m. on Tuesday. Myrtle is survived by her daughters, Emma Lou Smith, Nellie Mullen, Shirley Mahaney, Carol Scanland; her sons, Lonnie, Billy, James, Deltus and Harold Starnes; 28 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mayme Cotton. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lonnie Clyde "Bill" Starnes and Chester Zike; daughter, Betty Crook; son, Thomas Starnes; sister, Emma Smith; brother, David Powell and great-grandson, James White III "Little Jimmy." In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Emphysema Foundation or to your favorite charity.
