To my knowledge, the two Zinschlag families are not related. Zinschlag is German for Tinsmith. So most likely, each family had someone in the tinsmith trade and took that name. The IL Zinschlag's (back in the day) were Catholic and the MN Zinschlag's were Lutheran. This usually meant they were from different parts of Germany.
I have quite a bit of information on both the MN and IL Zinschlag's. However, I have very little information on your specific family from Edward Niehoff Zinschlag on down. I would be interested in getting more information from you in the future.
The oldest MN Zinschlag family member I have information on is Heinrich Zinschlag (1833-1909) and his wife Katherine Hoffman (1840-1918). They were married around 1861. Heinrich is my great-great grandfather. I have extensive information on the MN Zinschlags... too much to post here.
