Melissa - Thanks for your inquiry. The Zipps from the Abilene, Tx/Merkel, TX area list they are from Germany. That could mean they arrived in Texas directly through Galveston, TX port; or they may have migrated down to Texas from Pennsylvania. I have not worked much on tracing them because I have not confirmed which Zipps married my great Aunt Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" BARKER. My grandfather said she married a Zipps, and I have a newspaper obituary for her father that names her as LIZZIE ZIPPS of Weatherford, TX - where she and her husband must have lived for awhile - but there is no record of them in Weatherford other than that. Sorry -and good luck! If you find any of your Zipps settled in Texas, please let me know. Thanks.
